Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) this is an NHS service that gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescriptions to the place of your choice. To get more information on this service then please don't hesitate to ask our friendly receptionists.
Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the Doctor’s discretion and are normally for patients on long term medication. Requests for repeat prescriptions should be handed in at the reception desk or posted in the repeat prescription box in the surgery waiting area. When you have handed in your prescription request it will be ready within 72 hours and can be collected after 5pm.
The surgery CANNOT accept repeat prescriptions over the telephone as this could lead to errors and wrong medication issued.
ACUTE medication running out?
Acute prescriptions are medicines that have been issued by the GP but not added to your repeat prescription records. This is usually new medication issued for a trial period and will normally require a review visit with your GP prior to being added onto your repeat prescription records.
Please note that receptionist are unable to automatically submit requests for Acute prescriptions in the same manner as repeats and will forward all requests onto GPs. Requests for acutes also known as special requests, may be refused and you may be asked to make an appointment with your GP.
How to use prescription re-order form
Please use the tear off computer-generated part from your last
prescription. Please tick only the items you require. Many chemists
operate a repeat prescription collection service; you should speak to
your chemist if you are interested in this service.
A new way to get your prescriptions (NHS Electronic Repeat Dispensing
If you or someone you care for uses the same medicines regularly, you may be able to benefit from using the NHS Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) service.
This means you won't have to re-order or collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP Practice every time you need more medicine.
Step 1: Talk to your GP (your prescriber). If your prescriber thinks you could use eRD for your regular medicines, they will ask you for your consent to share information about your treatment with your pharmacist. This will help your pharmacist to give your prescriber feedback about your treatment and provide you with useful advice. Your prescriber will then authorise a number of eRD prescriptions. This will be based on your circumstances and clinical need.
Step 2: Collect your first eRD prescription from your pharmacy. You can choose any pharmacy that dispenses NHS prescriptions.
Step 3: Next time you need more medicines, go back to your pharmacy. Before dispensing the next issue of your prescription, your pharmacy will ask you the following questions:
If you don't need all the medication on your prescription, let the pharmacy staff know. This will help reduce waste and save the NHS money.
